D&D Autoworks: Where Passion, Precision, and Integrity Drive Every Repair

“Not the biggest shop in town, just the one people trust”

St Louis Park MN, Nov 2025: When you walk into D&D Autoworks, it immediately feels different. The shop hums with energy, the sound of tools mixes with conversation, and every person seems deeply focused on their craft. This is a place built on pride, skill, and trust.

Owner Erik Dutcher and his team have earned a reputation for treating every vehicle like their own. Whether it is a daily driver or a rare 1973 De Tomaso Pantera, D&D approaches each job with patience and care.

A Rare Classic Meets a Trusted Shop

When car enthusiast Jeff Peck brought his Pantera to D&D Autoworks, he was not just looking for service. He was looking for craftsmanship. The Pantera, an Italian design with a Ford 351 Cleveland engine, is a unique blend of style and power.

“I told Erik to treat it like his own,” Jeff says. “He did things I didn’t even think to ask for. The seat tracks were sticky, now they slide like new. He just noticed and fixed it.”

What began as a clutch replacement turned into a full suspension and chassis refresh. The team sandblasted and painted control arms, replaced bushings, resealed bearings, and restored sway bars and exhaust components by hand. Each detail mattered.

“You can’t rush this kind of work,” Erik says. “Every car deserves to be done right. That’s what keeps people coming back.”

Honesty as a Business Model

For Raise a Hood founder Michael Petersen, who has known Erik for decades, that attitude is exactly what makes D&D Autoworks stand out.

“I have seen Erik talk customers out of expensive repairs,” Michael says. “He will tell someone that their car isn’t worth a big job and help them get the most life out of it instead. That kind of honesty is rare.”

Customers notice. They know that at D&D Autoworks, they will never be pressured into unnecessary work. Every conversation is open, every quote explained, and every result guaranteed by pride, not sales targets.

Passion that Builds Reputation

The backbone of D&D Autoworks is built on the vehicles that keep American families moving: Camrys, Tundras, F-150s, and Subarus. “Those are the cars that get people to work, take kids to school, and keep life running,” Erik says. “We take pride in every one of them.”

Every so often, a truly special car rolls through the doors. While classic restorations like the De Tomaso Pantera are not the main source of revenue, they keep the work exciting and remind the team why they became mechanics in the first place. “At some level, most of us got into this business because we love cars,” Erik says. “Having the chance to work on a historic vehicle like this is pure passion.”

“There’s not a lot of money in restoration,” he adds. “But it builds reputation. When people see something like this leave our shop, they understand what we stand for.”

A Connection Between Driver and Mechanic

When the Pantera was finished, Jeff and Erik stood beside it smiling, proud of what they had created together. For Jeff, it was a return to a dream car from decades ago. For Erik, it was proof that true craftsmanship still matters.

“These cars have stories,” Erik says. “Our job is to keep them alive and make sure the owners love every minute behind the wheel.”

Jeff keeps the Pantera in Minnesota, where the winding roads and cooler weather let it thrive. “This car belongs here,” he says. “And D&D is the reason it drives better than new.”  Since the repair “I’ve been ripping around country roads and breaking in the new clutch with a smile on my face.”

A Shop Built on Trust and Craftsmanship

D&D Autoworks is more than an auto repair shop. It is a place where every job reflects passion and precision. Whether it is a modern SUV or a rare classic, the same care goes into every turn of the wrench.

“I don’t want to be the biggest shop,” Erik says. “I just want to be the one people trust.”

That dedication has made D&D Autoworks a Raise a Hood Certified Partner, trusted by drivers throughout Minnesota who value integrity, expertise, and genuine care for their vehicles.
